CINCINNATI, OHIO – Johnson Investment Counsel, Inc. announced today it has acquired Mead, Adam and Co. with offices in Dayton and Columbus, Ohio. This transaction allow the firm to continue to be the largest independent, employee-owned wealth management firm in the region, managing more than $4 billion in assets.
“Johnson Investment Counsel, Inc. is extremely pleased to welcome Mead, Adam & Co. to our family,” said Timothy E. Johnson, President/CEO. “The acquisition was a logical one,” said Johnson. “Mead, Adam has been around more than thirty-five years, has an outstanding reputation in the Dayton and Columbus communities, and their long-term investors have come to know and trust them. We look forward to an increased presence in Dayton and Columbus and integrating our firm with their dedicated staff.”
Both Johnson Investment Counsel, Inc. and Mead, Adam & Co. share the same fundamental beliefs and core values that pertain to putting their clients first and serving under fiduciary standards. Additionally, neither firm sells commission-based products, nor do they have sales quotas, something that is fairly atypical for most wealth management firms.
“I initially approached Tim Johnson because I have the utmost respect and trust for his entire firm,” states Jack H. Adam, President of Mead, Adam & Co. “This acquisition will be extremely beneficial to our long-time clients, and our entire team. We will be able to offer a wider breadth of investment services through various divisions of the company including Johnson Trust Company, Johnson Charitable Gift Fund, Johnson Mutual Funds, and Johnson Institutional Management. We can focus more on goal-based planning for our clients and touch all areas of our clients’ lives, giving them peace of mind; something that money cannot buy.”
Johnson Investment Counsel is excited about the continued growth within the region and is committed to helping more people. More importantly, clients at both firms will continue to receive the same superior level of service they are accustomed to from the Portfolio Managers that they’ve come to know and trust over the years.
“The investment philosophies of both Johnson Investment Counsel, Inc. and Mead, Adam, & Co. are also very much in alignment,” says Steve Eklund, Managing Director of the Private Client Group at Johnson Investment Counsel, Inc. “Our long-term strategy is to seek a diversified portfolio that is rich in both high-quality bonds and stocks for our clients, avoiding many sectors of the market that have been most recently under fire. And, as a result, investment portfolios for both firms have fared better than market, in spite of the recent turmoil. This kind of approach will ultimately favor clients at both firms.”
