April 20, 2009 - PRLog -- An Illinois statute mandating AEDs in physical fitness facilities has been amended to include many outdoor as well as indoor facilities. The new requirement affects many publicly owned facilities and “a public or private elementary or secondary school, college, university, or technical or trade school” if the facility is “supervised by one or more persons other than maintenance or security personal employed…for the purpose of directly supervising the physical fitness activities taking place.”

AFFECTED FACILITIES INCLUDE: Swimming pools, stadiums, athletic fields, football stadiums, soccer fields, baseball diamonds, track and field facilities, tennis courts, basketball courts, volleyball courts, or similar facilities.
"Physical fitness facility" does not include a facility serving less than a total of 100 individuals, and does not include any facility that does not employ any persons to provide instruction, training, or assistance for persons using the facility.

REQUIREMENTS:
 At least one AED must be made available onsite (additional AED’s may be required depending on the size of the facility and the number of people using the facility excluding spectators).
 A trained AED user on staff and present during all physical fitness activities (training must be provided by a nationally recognized organization such as the American Heart Association).
 The AED must be housed in a building (if available) within 300 feet where an event or activity is being conducted. The building (if available) must provide open and unimpeded access.
o If no building is available the person responsible for supervising the activities must make the AED available during all events.
 Proper testing and maintenance must be conducted to ensure the AED is in working order.

ANNUVIA PROVIDES:
 A selection of AED’s from most of the main manufacturers at an affordable price.
 American Heart Association Certification in CPR/AED use.
