WATER WOMAN GARDENS FEATURED IN THE MAR VISTA GARDEN TOURS
Ray Cirino, a leader in permaculture design and natural building, has created a beautiful garden – Water Woman Gardens. His revolutionary design has caught the attention of the community and will be featured in the Mar Vista Garden Tour this Sunday, April 26, 2009 2-6pm.
Water Woman Gardens is a permaculture playground and a learning center for our neighborhood. With each step, you discover yet another eco invention – a dove of peace bike rack that captures rain water… rocket stoves and solar cookers…. a live salad bar where you pick the fresh produce you are about to enjoy… towering tomato cages and a 20 foot high water woman sculpture that waters the garden!
There will be workshops in solar cooking and cob (adobe without the brick) building – including a cob eco ‘model home’. Everything has been built from free, reclaimed and repurposed materials. This is truly an Eco Wonderland!
Water Womans Gardens is fortunate to have space that is large enough to be turned into an Eco Wonderland. Ray’s intention is that everyone who visits will feel it is theirs to enjoy. There are work parties that not only educate, but bring harmony in relationship with others.
Lynn Crandall, Director of the University of Southern California Institute for Genetic Medicine Art Gallery, says “it was so powerful to see 6 year olds at the Water Woman Gardens. You could see them make the connection to food. I love what Ray is doing!”
