The release means the Hield Bros collection now includes finest English worsted fabrics and Tartans for both apparel and furnishings. This places the company on a unique pedestal in terms of diversity of fabrics.
The company, which was established in 1922 during the reign of His Majesty King George V of the United Kingdom, a year which saw the British Empire at its largest ever, covering one-quarter of the world's population. The company was founded by entrepreneurs David and Hugh Hield as Hield Brothers Limited in Bradford, Yorkshire, England as a manufacturer of fine worsted fabrics. Based in Briggella Mills, Bradford, the company quickly gained a reputation for manufacturing fine quality cloth. After increased demand, Hield began to use its knowledge to produce suits.
In 2004, the company opened its first boutique on Savile Row, London, with the aim of providing customers with both made-to-measure and ready-to-wear suits. In 2005, a second boutique opened in Lowndes Street, London. This was followed in 2006 by a shop in the distinguished Daimaru department store in Osaka, Japan. This was subsequently followed in 2007 by the brand's flagship store in the same city.
Hield is currently the only British vertically integrated retailer. Its process begins with the manufacturing of fine cloth, which is highly demanded the world over, to the development of this cloth into ready-to-wear and made-to-measure suits, which are available for purchase from the Hield stores.
