The Marathon Returns to Tel Aviv! 4/18/2009
Thousands Expected to Run in the Centennial Year's International Marathon music and arts celebration
After 15 years, the marathon is back! The Centennial Year will see a revival of a city tradition, as the Tel Aviv International Marathon will take place on Friday, April 24.
Mayor Ron Huldai will launch the race at Charles Clore Park at 6:45 AM. The magnificent beach, which oversees Old Yafo and its ancient port, is the site where 100 years ago the city of Tel Aviv was born.
The 42 kilometer race course will pass through the central streets of the city, including Rothschild Blvd., Allenby Street, and the Lahat Promenade. Shorter courses, of 5 and 10 kilometers, are also offered. The race will end at Charles Clore Park with a music and arts celebration.
