So how did he invent Lenny the Lobster? What is Pookooian Theory? Is there an Afterlife? Or just how in the heck does he come up with this stuff?
Fans of American writer D.L. Shiloh get the chance to submit their own question for a new interview-style DVD that's in the works, slated for release by Homefield Multimedia in 2009.
"It's a great way for that continual merge that D.L.'s wanting to do with his work," Mike Pace said. "It's a fun book with serious tones and it gets people thinking."
Shiloh's first novel was "Pookoo", a satire of celebrity, and will be released in a special edition this spring. In the meantime, for a limited time, the novel can be downloaded free from one of Shiloh's sites.
"We've had a lot of success to build up his fans," Pace added. "He has readers in over 15 countries. We'll do a random drawing of all questions and 5 will win a copy of the DVD."
Besides material about "Pookoo", the DVD will touch on Shiloh's background - from living in Iowa, Chicago and elsewhere, to his career as a newspaperman to PR work for the Nagasaki co-pilot, as well as Internet work in the mid-90s at what was known as the Dawn of the Information Age. A new segment will be about his long-awaited poetry book titled "The Eyewitness", a tale of the aftermath of World War III.
"I'm excited to hear what people will ask," Shiloh said. "We want to see people ask through their YouTube page - and we'll work on getting the question that way into the DVD. I would've loved to have had the chance to ask Hemingway or Vonnegut a question this way."
