Shmoop Recognized as Official Honoree in the Education Category of 2009 Webby Awards

MOUNTAIN VIEW , CA – Shmoop (http://www.shmoop.com), a new educational website that aims to make learning fun and relevant for today’s students, was recognized as an Official Honoree in the education category for the 2009 Webby Awards.“We are incredibly honored and grateful to be recognized by the Webbys,” said Brady Wood, vice president of Shmoop. “We are humbled to be in a group that includes giants of educational media, such as our co-honorees PBS, CBC, and BBC.” Called “the Internet’s highest honor” by The New York Times, the Webby Awards are in their 13th year.According to The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, the organization that presents the Webby Awards, “of the nearly 10,000 entries submitted to the 13th Annual Webby Awards, fewer than 15% were distinguished as an Official Honoree. This honor signifies an outstanding caliber of work.”“Shmoop is thrilled to receive this recognition at such an early stage in our company’s life,” said Wood. We launched in November, 2008.
