It's a great question, unfortunately, there's no single right answer for it.
It's like asking, "What's the best flavor of ice cream?" or "what's the best job for me?"
or "whom should I marry?"
The right answer depends on the individual.
When you find the business that suits you and your personality, and you put in the effort, you will succeed.
The key to success in a home based business is consistent directed effort. Many people give their home based business a try for a few weeks, or maybe even a few months. If they haven't had success (which is most likely) they give up and say "the business can't be successful" or "it's a scam."
In reality, almost every home based business opportunity can be successful. If one person has succeeded, then you CAN succeed. But.... you must be willing to put forth the effort.
Some people are willing to put forth an effort, but are unwilling to invest any money in their home based business. It is unrealistic to think that they can start a business without investing capital. Image that you want to open a McDonaeld's restaurant. You tell McDonald's that you're willing to work 80 + hours a week (which you will), but you don't really want to invest the $600,000 they require. They'll laugh you out of the office!
If you want to succeed in a home based business you really need to WANT to succeed. You need to make up your mind that you're going to keep at it, no matter what, until you succeed. Notice I said UNTIL you succeed, not if you succeed. If you stay with it and put in the effort (and, yes, the required financial investment,)
If you want "try it for awhile and see how it goes," don't bother.
If you go to college to get a degree to be an engineer, you don't "try it for awhile and see how it goes!" You go to class every day, and you do your homework, and sometimes it's really hard and you get discouraged. But you really want to be an engineer. You're willing to put in the effort for four years (and at a huge expense) because you really WANT it.
That's the passion you need to be successful, whether in a home based business, or in any worthwhile endeavor.
