Geeks go on the road with Tech Bus Tours!

April 17, 2009 - PRLog -- It's a "mobile micro unconference" enabling conference participants to meet, network, relax and do business before they even get to leading conferences and events.

Tech Bus Tours' first bus trip will run from the North West to the North East taking the digital makers and thinkers from Liverpool to Gateshead for Thinking Digital on May 13th.

The luxury coach comes equipped with all mod cons and rather amazingly (for a journey over the Pennines) with wifi! The Tech Bus Tours host will also bring on specially invited 'hitch hikers' to entertain passengers. Mini sessions will include 'speedy networking' opportunities, geek comedy, mobile hardware hacking demos, 'cultural reality tours' and other techy treats. (Session leaders, er, sorry, passengers will be announced soon).

The Tech Bus Tours project also has a serious side ensuring travelers can participate 'guilt free' with their journey being 'carbon offset' as part of the ticket price.

Tech Bus Tours is a practical project solving real problems for conference goers. It's fun of course, but we genuinely aim to ensure passengers arrive at the conference already knowing some fellow delegates, having had a relaxing but thought provoking journey." explains Katie Lips, Tech Bus Tours project initiator.

Katie devised the idea for Tech Bus Tours one day after a discussion with fellow technologists about business networking around conferences. "How can we get everyone together? How can we encourage them to travel from one side of the country to another? How can we make their journeys more ethical, more responsible, more useful, and more fun?"

Tech Bus Tours was born as a partnership between Katie's company Kisky Netmedia and ICDC (The International Centre for Digital Content) keen to bring together Northern creative technology startups - and take them to Thinking Digital!
