April 16, 2009 - PRLog -- Alternative country artist and actress, Steely, a.k.a. Tina Marie Springham, recently found herself singing a new tune in the middle of the Mojave Desert. In 2008, two of her hit singles, Crumblin’ Down and Broken climbed to the top ten on the Americana Alternative Country charts. But there’s more to this singer/songwriter than a great voice. After auditioning for the producers of Red Horizon Films, Steely was offered the lead role in the company’s latest film titled, Mojave Philosophy, a story about a waitress who takes a walk down the road to redemption. As soon as Steely read the script, she accepted the starring role of a truck stop waitress and single mother, a part that is dear to her heart.

“I was immediately drawn to the story,” says Steely. “My mom raised me in the early years as a single mother and I have a close friend who is doing an amazing job raising her child alone. Ultimately, the hardship and sacrifices these women make to raise their children are worth it all. I don’t believe that there are mistakes in life, merely choices we make. The road is laid out before us and there’s a purpose for everything.”

The short film, Mojave Philosophy is a tribute to working, single mothers. Shot on location in the Mojave Desert, the bleak surroundings reflect the despair and hopelessness the main character is experiencing. But her journey through the rugged environment ultimately leads her home where an oasis of life and love waits in the arms of her little boy. “I always felt like there was “more” out there beyond the desert, just like the character in the film,” Steely said. “Maybe there is something “more”, but I believe that the “more” lies within each of us. We just have to look and discover what it is. I spent a lifetime searching for the place where I belong and for the first time in my life, on the set of Mojave Philosophy, I found myself at the right place at the right time, doing exactly what I was meant to be doing.”
