Patrick Power, JP Turner, Elected to National Investment Banking Board

PR Log (Press Release) – Apr 15, 2009 – JP Turner announced that Patrick Power, managing director of their Investment Banking Division was elected by Association members to the Board of Directors of the National Investment Banking Association (NIBA). He will serve a three-year term.

“NIBA offers Patrick and JP Turner a great way to build relationships with other investment banking professionals and broker-dealer owners and to keep our finger on the pulse of what is happening in the industry,” commented Bill Mello, president of JP Turner. “Having served on NIBA’s board myself, I understand their desire to have people on their board who represent them in a way that brings their mission statement to life. Patrick is a natural fit.”

Mello feels NIBA provided him with industry knowledge he wouldn’t have necessarily had access to and facilitated relationships with people he wouldn’t have crossed paths with providing him with greater industry insight. He served on the board from 2001-2005.
“I know this will be a professionally rewarding opportunity for Patrick,” said Mello. “It will help him better position JP Turner’s Investment Banking Division to enhance the services we provide to our clients.”

Since joining JP Turner in 1998, the investment banking division, under Power's guidance, has represented over $4 Billion for its clients. He has been cited for managing one of the top three performing public offerings (Investment Dealers' Digest) and for running one of the best regional investment banks in the United States (Success Magazine). With the Investment Banking Division's leadership, JP Turner was ranked one of the top 25 brokerage firms in the United States for a number of PIPE transactions (The PIPE Reporter). Power and members of his team have been quoted in numerous publications including The Wall Street Journal and Investor's Business Daily. Most recently, he was featured as an “up-and-comer” in Dealmaker Magazine. Prior to joining JP Turner, Power held a chief strategist position at a regional merchant bank, served as a vice president of a NASDAQ traded company, and was a municipal researcher for a national, full-service brokerage firm. Power was nominated and elected by his peers in 2000 to serve on the NIBA membership committee. He graduated cum laude from University of Central Florida, Orlando, with a bachelor's degree in finance.

NIBA  is the second largest not-for-profit trade association for the investment banking industry in US.  Founded 26 years ago, NIBA currently represents over 6,000 registered representatives with over $45 Billion in assets under management.  The Association provides its member firms with regularly scheduled conferences where they are able to exchange ideas and information, evaluate presentations made by public and private companies seeking capital or exposure, collectively voice their positions on issues impacting their livelihood, and enhance their knowledge and expertise through ongoing education programs designed to enable them to remain competitive in today's market.
