Students, faculty and staff from The Art Institute of New York City, are teaming up on a special assignment that will promote goodwill and valuable support to their community during the National Week of Service April 19-25, 2009.
This year, The Art Institute of New York City faculty and staff have partnered with the New York Cares initiative Hands on New York, whose goal it is to give New York City a spring cleaning. On April 25, 2009 The Art Institute of New York City students, faculty and staff will roll up their sleeves to help revitalize Forest Park in Queens, making it a cleaner, safer and more pleasant environment for the community. Forest Park is the third largest park in Queens, conceived by Frederick Law Olmsted, the renowned architecht who planned Central Park in Manhattan.
The Art Institute of New York City students, faculty and staff are no strangers to community service. Since its inception, the school has been actively involved in community outreach with various projects ranging from a campaign to prevent water pollution to Share Our Strength, supporting an organization dedicated to putting an end to childhood hunger.
“Participating in the National Week of Service complements our campus environment of serving our students and serving the community where we live and work,” The Art Institute of New York City President David Warren said. “Giving back to the community is always the right thing to do. We are proud of the work our faculty, staff and students have put into this important effort.”
