World Health Day marks the founding of the WHO and is an occasion to raise awareness of key global health issues. The theme chosen for this year is “Save lives. Make hospitals safe in emergencies”
One among the top ranking universities in India today, the Birla Institute of Technology and Science popularly known as BITS has campuses in Pilani Rajasthan, Dubai, Goa and Hyderabad. Recently the National Assessment and Accreditation Council NAAC reaccredited BITS with 3.71 CGPA out of 4 and awarded “A” grade “Very Good” status to BITS.
BITS Pilani has been offering a Master of Public Health as well as a MPhil in Hospital & Health Systems Management degree programs and one of the courses taught in the curriculum is on Epidemic & Disaster Management.
BITS also has active collaboration with lead hospitals in India which include CMC Hospital Vellore, Bombay Hospital Mumbai and Indore, Medical Research Foundation Sankara Nethralaya Chennai, Madras Medical Mission Chennai, Frontier Lifeline – KM Cherian Heart Foundation Chennai, LV Prasad Eye Institute Hyderabad, State Health Society - National Rural Health Mission Jaipur.
BITS Pilani has been celebrating World Heath Day for the past several years
It is known that a brisk evening walk has so many health and stress management benefits which include keeping one fit for the day apart from helping one to sleep better at night.
BITS Pilani celebrated the World Health Day by organizing an evening walk on Tuesday April 7, 2009 across the Institute led by the Vice Chancellor Dr LK Maheshwari in which faculty members and spouses, children and students participated. The enthusiasm shown by the children to participate in the walk was remarkable.
The walk was organized by Staff Association along with Community Welfare and International Relations unit of BITS Pilani.
