The series, directed by Pavan Moondi, was initially conceived as a companion piece to help pitch EVERYDAY IS LIKE A SUNDAY, a television concept the Toronto-based writer-director is actively marketing. “It started out as a short promotional piece to help pitch EVERYDAY IS LIKE SUNDAY, but as we developed the web series, it became its own animal in many ways. Ultimately, it’s something that can stand alone, and we’re very proud of,” said Mr. Moondi, who also co-wrote and edited the series.
TEN SUNDAYS tells the story of David and Jesse, two post-collegiate roommates and best friends who are literally attached at the hip as they spend all their time on their living room couch. Things begin to change, however, when one of them gets a demanding new girlfriend and the other loses all sense of purpose after botching a very important job interview. Each of the ten 5-7 minute episodes takes place on a Sunday in the pair’s living room. Mr. Moondi explained, “The series is definitely a comedy, but I think we tried to be a little more ambitious than that as the series developed. We tried to balance out some of the wackier and out-there comedy by grounding the characters in real issues, whether it’s being aimless after college or beginning to drift apart from an old friend. That’s something I haven’t seen much of in short-form, internet-based productions.”
TEN SUNDAYS currently sits in post-production, and will begin rolling out online in May 2009. It is being released under Mr. Moondi’s production shingle, Mars on Mars Independent Productions.
