Follow on Google News | Roundbox Global Launches New Back-End for Student Information Management System (SIMS)Open source EduCloud application will contribute to RBX Learning Ecosystem and other net-centric software solutions
By: Thomas Squeo The system supports the aggregation of business logic, object relationships, and a database schema into a single deployable solution, allowing users to manage student data across a variety of net-centric software solutions. The back-end is currently being used for a number of Learning Management System (LMS) products developed by Roundbox Global, and can contribute to large educational institutional systems requiring enterprise, comprehensive solutions for role management, user management, school management, classroom management and activities management. Future releases of the application will include attendance management enhancements, discipline record management and reporting, events management, healthcare/medical file management, schedule generation and group management. “The EduCloud SIMS system represents an important component of a digital education ecosystem. We built a SIMS solution that is out-of-the-box developed to integrate and enhance the entire enterprise of digital educational solutions,” said Justin Beals, Roundbox Global’s Executive Vice President of Education. Roundbox Global developed the SIMS back-end using Java within a Spring framework, and integrating technologies such as Hibernate, JPA, Cxf, Jsp, Dozer, Jaxb, Velocity and Slf4j. Designed as a multi-tier system, the application follows the three-tier architecture of J2EE and all its benefits (simplicity, scalability, flexibility and robustness).
