Canadian actor Kim Coates, star of films such as Waterworld, Open
Range, Black Hawk Down as well as the hit TV shows CSI:Miami and Sons Of
Anarchy will be on hand to receive the Action On Film 2009 Half Life
Award. Previous AOF Award winners have included Michael Madsen, Bill
Duke, John Savage and David Carradine. Coates says, “It is really a
fantastic honor to be counted among legends like those guys. It's
great, it's a gift.”
Festival Director Josh Neufeld said, '”Kim Coates and other actors
like him are really the heart of the industry. Kim is one of those guys who's face you
see and you know them but they may not be house hold names; still when
people see him they line up for a photo or autograph.”
Coates has worked with some of the biggest names in Hollywood;
Kevin Costner, Robert Duval, Jeff Goldblum and many others. He has
done incredible work as a character actor and performer with an
unmistakable look and skills that set him apart from anyone else on
camera.
Action On Film Head Programmer and Studio Executive Alan Bailey
said, “No production big or small can be successful without an actor
such as Kim Coates. Character actors are the bread and butter of any
project, the bedrock on which all other performance are built.”
In addition to receiving the AOF Half Life Award at the AOF Black
Tie Dinner and Award Show during the week long event, which takes place
in Pasadena, CA July 24-31, 2009, Coates will be on hand to screen one
of his favorite films, KING OF SORROWS which the actor stars in and
produced. Coates comments “It's one of the films that
is very difficult to watch, but in a good way.”
