ControlTek Installs New Selective Solder Capabilities to Better Serve the Electronics Markets

PR Log (Press Release) – Apr 10, 2009 – ControlTek of Vancouver, Washington has recently installed Selective Solder technology to enhance Lead Free electronic production capabilities. The KISS-103 from ACE Production Technologies is designed to selectively solder through-hole components, such as connectors, into printed circuit boards.  

The fast change over and automation features make this a great solution for reducing costs and increasing efficiency. “Our market position as a high quality, full service manufacturing and design house requires staying current with technology and automating as many processes as possible” we are told by Andy LaFrazia, President of ControlTek.  “This investment allows us to eliminate hand soldering and significantly reduce manufacturing time by 50 to 80% on some production runs.”  

The selective solder process allows for an automated application of flux and solder to through-hole component leads even in close proximity to neighboring SMT components.  The benefit to electronics manufacturing companies and the PCB assembly process is precise control and repeatability.
