As per outsourcing challenges 2009 a survey done by bpovoice.com (a BPO specific networking site ) majority of it’s respondents agreed to that the Indian BPO sector is capable of surviving the current slump in the market.
A whooping 74 % of surveyed replied in positive which shows that quite a good confidence level in the market in favor of Indian outsourcing business.
But there was also a catch when they saw the reasons their respondents had given in favor of the topic under discussion.
Only 12% of surveyed believed that India would be able to survive the present slump in the market precisely because of its unique skill set whereas 62 % of surveyed believed that India would still survive in such conditions because of its low cost high quality image worldwide.
There were still 26% of the respondents who were either not sure or felt that there are other countries having alternative skill set at low cost as far as outsourcing destination is concerned looking into present global recession.
There are unarguably other destinations where outsourcing business is moving i.e. Philippines, China, Middle East, South America etc, but India has its unique combination of low cost, high skill set, high quality of delivery model and above all maturity of handling outsourcing business.
The survey team got response from 600 people across the globe who were directly or indirectly related to the outsourcing industry expressing their views on some of the critical questions asked to them during the survey. The complete report is at bpovoice.com
