TLC's Chilli partners with Dasani water to reveal beauty secrets

In April, Chilli partnered with the Dasani brand to give women one of her staple beauty secrets: water. The campaign targets African American women, moms especially in an effort to increase household penetration and frequency.
 
April 10, 2009 - PRLog -- (Atlanta, GA) Most fans remember TLC's Chilli as 1/3 of the best-selling girl group of all time.  With 45 million albums to her credit, the starlet once voted one of People Magazine's 50 Most Beautiful People is known just as much for her athletic physique and anti-aging Cover girl good looks as she is for her group's record-breaking success. In April, Chilli partnered with the Dasani brand to give women one of her staple beauty secrets: water.

"People have always asked me questions about how to take care of their skin.  Drinking plenty of water has always been a part of my daily routine. It hydrates the skin keeping it taut and supple," she reveals. The campaign which states "The simple moments are most refreshing" will be launched in radio, print, digital and in-store ads. The campaign targets African-American moms “in an effort to increase household penetration and frequency,” said Yolanda White, assistant vice president of African-American marketing for Coca-Cola. Chilli's eleven year-old son is pictured alongside her in many of the ads.  

"Although I've had a wonderful career, being a mother is the job I was truly born to do," Chilli explains. "To me there is no question in the balance between career and family. My son always comes first, everything else has to fall into place behind him."  Like many single mothers Chilli says it can be demanding at times, but being "a great Mom has rewards far bigger than any career," she insists.  Still her career is nothing less than demanding especially as of late. At press time, TLC had just returned to the states after touring Japan on the Springgroove tour.

Between carting her son to basketball practice and grueling six-hour TLC show rehearsals, Chilli also owns her own business, a handbag line entitled, "Bags by Chilli".  The company celebrates its second year in business in October 2009. Her non-profit Chilli's Crew, which allows her to speak to young girls on self-esteem and peer pressure is also a task she doesn't take lightly. "I have no problem being a role model. I think its the responsibility of anyone who is blessed to give back and be a blessing to someone else, especially young people," Chilli says.  

Her celebratory career, dedication to health and wellness and her uncomprising values made Chilli a perfect candidate to represent the Dasani brand.  "We selected Chilli because she’s a 38-year-old single mom who embodies the struggles and the balance we see in our target audience,” said White. “She gives reassurance to moms that you can still be a great mom, take care of yourself and look beautiful.”
