Follow on Google News | Bookings for Nano Car StartTata Motors are accepting selling application forms for world's cheapest car 'Nano' till 25th April, 2009. In the first phrase 1,00,000 cars will be sold and people who will drive out the car will be decided by randomly selected computerized system.
By: Reena Dhiman The selling of application form, of Rs.300 each, was started on 1st April and people are showing great enthusiasm towards it as the response is very encouraging, as per the company. “We have already sold 50,000 forms at our dealerships. This figure does not include the sale at our Westside apparel stores and Croma appliance outlets,’ asserted by an official with Tata Motors., Mumbai. The Tata Nano car website has generated more than 5 crore hits, including over 2crore hits within just 15 days since the launching of Nano on 23rd March, 2009. The company is selling application forms in more than 1000 cities at over 30,000 locations in pan India through Tata Motors' passenger-car dealerships, at various branches of State Bank of India also through its subsidiaries & associates and with the help of some financers. Tata company is also selling forms with the help of other group companies like Westside, Croma, World of Titan and Tata Indicom etc. The Tata Motors has come with an online booking system also, first of its kind in India. Such form will cost 200 bucks. Mr. Ravi Bhattacharya, Nano sales manager with Autolink Delhi said ‘We have sold some 500 forms at our three showrooms in Delhi and the figure is likely to go up next week as the submission process begins to hot up.’ However fate of all those people who will drive out this economical car will be decided by a lucky draw. Within the 60 days of closing of bookings, the company with the help of computerized random selection procedure will announce allotment of 1,00,000 during the first phase of deliveries. The booking of the car is of no assurance of actually getting this Rs. 1,00,000 car. From July, lucky customers can drive out their small car out of the showrooms. Despite of the fat that heaviest booking amount, ever charged in India for an automobile, dealers are sure at least 50% people who purchase the application form will likely to buy their 'small wonder' car. Rs.95,000 is taken as an upfront payment or Rs.2,999 for financing it. For facilitating the easy flow of loan disbursement for the vehicle, Tata has entered into a tie up with 15 national banks like Bank of Baroda, Punjab National Bank, Bank of India, Dena Bank etc. “Nano is a bonanza for Indians as it will definitely bring a new move to the automobile world at global level”, said Mr. Krishna Sharma, a customer. The first set of cars are manufactured from Pantnagar of Uttarakhand and Pune in Maharashtra. Afterwards it will be manufactured from the new project site of Sanand, Gujarat.
