A Sculptress, An Artist And A Winemaker – Discover The Joie De Vivre Exhibition

Galerie Klimantiris hosts sculptress Esther Wetheimer, visual artist Kevin Jenne and winemaker Anthony Carone in a one-of-a-kind exhibition on May 2 & 3 in Montreal.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Apr 09, 2009 -
St. Laurent (Montreal), Quebec – Galerie Klimantiris, one of Montreal’s leading art galleries, today announced the Joie de Vivre Exhibition, a flagship art event combining the talents of sculptress Esther Wertheimer, visual artist Kevin Jenne and Quebec winemaker Anthony Carone, that will be held on May 2nd and 3rd at the gallery from 1 PM – 5 PM on Saturday and Sunday.

“We wanted to combine great Canadian artists in one exhibition and what better way to do that than by bringing together internationally renowned artists – a sculptress, an artist and a winemaker,” said Chris Klimantiris, owner of Galerie Klimantiris.

Hot off the heals of Esther Wertheimer’s highly successful show in China, Ms. Wertheimer will exhibit her latest sculptures and be on hand to discuss her art throughout the exhibition. Kevin Jenne will be in attendance showcasing a combination of new and older paintings inspired by the concepts of Joie de Vivre and winemaking and wine grape. Finally, Award-winning winemaker Anthony Carone will be on hand to launch and providing tastings of “Joie” a very limited edition red wine crafted specifically for this exhibition.

“The arts are eclectic, whether it be in the form of sculptures, paintings, or wine, any art lover will benefit from the wealth of talent that these artists offer,” added Vivian Klimantiris, the gallery’s Director.

The exhibition will take place over a two-day period on May 2nd and 3rd, whereby VIPs and media are invited to join the artists on May 2nd and the general public on May 3rd. All three artists will be available onsite to mingle with guests and discuss their influences, passions and art.

ABOUT ESTHER WERTHEIMER
Esther Wertheimer’s (www.ewertheimer.com) work has been exhibited and commissioned internationally. Having learned the technical mastery of casting, her work began to shift away from its earlier foundations in portraiture and realism, towards more poetic gestures and expressive forms. She continues her love of the figure, using graceful elongations to capture the rhythmic beauty of the human spirit.

Her work is at one sensitively delicate and vigorously intense. Life and energy flow from extended limbs and cascading draperies. There is a deep-rooted joy forming the essence of each work – the joy of living. The artist’s passion for dance, family, and love are imbued through her sculptures.

With balance and strength, Wertheimer’s creations show great sensitivity to line and space. Dancers are captured in dynamic weightlessness, their forms generating a language of visual poetry. Mothers hold their children in the air with confidence and delight. Her work forges a connection between bodies and souls, blurring the line between our physical and spiritual beings.

Born in Poland, Wertheimer grew up in Montreal, and in her 30’s began studying at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. She then went on to study in Italy having won many scholarships and grants; 1) Borsa di Studio from the Italian Government, 2) Canada Council Travel Grant, 3) Elizabeth T. Greenshields Memorial Grant, 4) Bourse de l’enseignement superieure, Quebec Government and she later studied portraiture under sculptor Mario Moschi in Florence Italy. Currently she works out of her studio in Boca Raton, Florida and Montreal, Canada.

ABOUT KEVIN JENNE
Montreal Artist, Kevin Jenné (www.kevinjenne.com), was born and grew up in Canada in the Quebec Eastern Townships region. He was trained, encouraged and inspired at a young age by a variety of artistic mentors. He apprenticed under Canadian impressionist painter David Drum. Jenné's earliest works depicted subjects inspired by Montreal's architectural motifs, painted in intense colours. Avoiding a linear style, Jenné favors deep contrasting hues that add vibrancy to the scenes. This style was followed by paintings reminiscent of stained glass windows, a technique he called "intrinsic illumination". Jenné has created works in which light seems to emanate from within the canvas.

A huge appeal to his work lies in his impressionistic style and the variety of his subject matters. The core of this work is based on his love of his adopted city Montreal where he presently works and lives, with its European inspired architecture and also its vast artistic elements. It’s a city with an infectious “joie de vivre”, with a tapestry of cultures all living together - enjoying life, food and wine – “colours of life”. In Jenné's paintings the figures are essential; they interact telling stories through their body language, becoming symbols representing his life. The figures are painted without facial features creating the illusion of ambiguity and timelessness. His paintings are infused with an inner glow and luminosity that gives each piece a life of its own. He uses intense colours to elicit an emotional response and stir passion in those who view his work.
