PRLog (Press Release) - Apr 09, 2009 -
With a growing dissatisfaction of Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak from communities of color and the mainstream across Minneapolis, another candidate steps up in an attempt to take Minneapolis in a new direction. Don’t be fooled, Mr. Flowers could become Minneapolis’  “Jessie Ventura,” which might be what the citizens of Minneapolis want!”

Candidate to officially kick-off his “Truth to the People” campaign on Thursday, April 9, 2009…

Minneapolis, MN - Al Flowers, a longtime community advocate and owner of Best Reflections Daycare in Minneapolis will formally announce his candidacy for Mayor of Minneapolis, on Thursday, April 9, at 11:00a.m., in Kenny Park, located at 1328 West 58th Street, in Minneapolis.  The event is open to the public, with members of the media invited to attend.   Flowers, married to wife Patunya, and the father of five children, will wage an issues-oriented campaign, under the banner of the campaign slogan, “Truth to the People.” (Visit the website at www.truthtothepeople.org)

The candidate will announce campaign priorities, such as education; Training city residents to gain employment in local businesses; increasing the number of entrepreneurs in traditionally impoverished neighborhoods; Removing the “us versus them” mentality between the community and police department; Viewing youth violence reduction as a public education issue, not a public health issue; providing clarity and teeth to the Civil Rights Department Contract Compliance Unit; Investing in a City-secured fund to assist homeowners who fall behind in mortgage payments, eliminating the never-ending path of potholes on our streets; and maintaining our city lakes, parks, and wetlands.
