Located on the outskirts of Milan, Euroffice’s Italian business closely mirrors its UK operations with the company exclusively focused on generating online sales. As in the UK, the business holds no inventory, it using in-country wholesalers to fill orders and deliver the products to customers in line with Euroffice’s specified service level agreements.
Initially, Euroffice.it is offering 12,000 products representing some 80% of Euroffice.co.uk’
Euroffice’s wholly owned Italian operation is run by experienced online business professional Diego Vicamini who previously was country manager for online recruiter StepStone in Italy. Prior to that, he was with Intel.
Simon Drakeford, group CEO of Euroffice, said:
“We are delighted to have been able to complete this launch successfully and on budget – a feat that has been made possible thanks to the significant investment we made into our underlying platform and people in 2008.”
Country manager, Diego Vicamini, continued:
“Italy’s industry structure makes it an important and logical next market for Euroffice to enter – 97 percent of the country’s employees presently work in companies with fewer than 16 people. Likewise, internet usage is high. We’re confident that these factors, combined with the strength of our product offering, will allow us to successfully build the Euroffice brand in Italy.”
In the UK, Euroffice’s sales currently stand at £20 million per annum. The first order to be processed on the Italian site was for five printer cartridges and two boxes of copier paper.
