Council Connections Announces Collaboration with Teleosis Institute

Partnership supports greener healthcare. "Going Green" Conference to be held in San Diego, CA, April 15-17, 2009.

Council Connections, a national group purchasing organization serving community health centers and other non-profits, is collaborating with the Teleosis Institute, which is devoted to health professionals in service of the global environment. Council Connections and Teleosis share common goals of promoting high quality, cost-effective, sustainable medical services benefiting underserved populations and the environment in which we live. This synergy of goals and missions evolved into a mutual sponsorship agreement which will enhance both organizations.

Teleosis is a program of Practice Greenhealth, the nation's leading membership and networking organization for institutions in the healthcare community that have made a commitment to sustainable, eco-friendly practices. Practice Greenhealth members include non-profit organizations, community health centers, hospitals, healthcare systems, businesses and other stake holders engaged in the greening of healthcare to improve the health of patients, staff and the environment.

Teleosis serves health care professionals through the following interlinked areas:
- Leadership in Green Health Care is an 8-week online course for health professionals to become leaders in the emerging field of sustainable medicine.
- The Green Pharmacy Program provides communities with safe disposal of unwanted medicines while educating the public about the effects of pharmaceuticals in our environment.
- Symbiosis Journal explores ecological principles of healing and medicine. Other educational materials include: environmental health brochures, green health care newsletter, lectures, and online resources.
- The Green Health Care Network, a grassroots network of visionary health care professionals who are leading the Green Health Care movement.
