April 7, 2009 - PRLog -- Capers Memorial CME Church—located at 319 Ave. North, Nashville, Tennessee—will hold Holy Week Revival services daily at 7:00 p.m., April 8-10, 2009. The guest preacher will be Dr. Kelly Miller Smith Jr. of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, located in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Dr. Kelly Miller Smith Jr. is currently the Executive Director of the Sunday School Publishing Board of the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc.—which is located in downtown Nashville, Tennessee. He began this duty of service on June 1, 2007.

Dr. Smith received a B.A. in Music from Morehouse College in 1976 and graduated from the Morehouse School of Religion of the Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC) in 1983 with a Master of Divinity degree (both schools located in Atlanta, Georgia). He received a Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) degree from United Theological Seminary in 1993 (Dayton, Ohio). He also served as an adjunct professor to United for Doctor of Ministry students.

A man of immense energy, Pastor Smith is very active in numerous religious and professional organizations. He serves as vice president of the Tennessee Baptist Missionary and Educational Convention. From 1993-1997, he served as president of its Leadership Education Congress (a position that his father also once held). He is currently serving on other Boards of Directors across the United States. He was commissioned as a chaplain with the Knoxville Police Department in 1994. He is also one of the contributing devotional writers to the African- American Devotional Bible (Zondervan). He is a member of the Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity (Boule’). He was inducted into the Martin Luther King Jr. Board of Preachers at Morehouse College in April of 2003.

This is Dr. Smith’s second year participating in Capers Memorial Holy Week revival service.
