Entertaining Mr Sloane was written by Joe Orton and is now playing at The Trafalgar Studios theatre London. Entertaining Mr Sloane is an absolute must see for London theatre fans. Starring Imelda Staunton and Matthew Horne, the play focuses on the relationship between a beautiful dissolute young man, a middle aged landlady, her brother and father. Comic, tragic and erudite this piece of London theatre is loaded with hilarious sexual innuendo. Created in the 1964 this play is a classic example of what London theatre does best.

Three Days of Rain. The big name in this London theatre production is James McAvoy. A classy three handed drama about inheritance in New York. A brilliant piece of London theatre the humorous narrative looks at family, inheritance, love and parenthood. Lyndsey Marshal plays the female lead and Nigel Harman, once star of EastEnders and now of London theatre fame, makes up the third of the superb trio.

The reconstructed Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London is the jewel not only in the London theatre arena but also on the arty South Bank of the Thames. The original Globe Theatre was built in 1599 the reconstruction is approximately 230m from the original site. Plays are staged during the warmer months, but tours of the reconstructed Globe Theatre are available all year round.

Situated to the south-east of Waterloo station, the Old Vic is one of London theatre’s most creatively significant performance spaces. Founded in 1818 the Old Vic was also the name of the repertory company based at this London theatre. The company formed the core of the National Theatre of Great Britain, now based on the South Bank it is still considered one of the most creatively prestigious of all London theatres. The Old Vic is one of London theatre’s most popular theatres.

When it comes to children’s entertainment – London theatres hold their heads up high. Creative, fun and inventive, London theatres know that that children can be a tough audience to please and venues need to be a little more inventive than your average grown up London theatre.
