After thorough review, the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) has once again awarded a translation and desktop publishing contract to International Contact, Inc., a multi-language communications agency in Oakland, California.
The detailed Request for Proposal process included interviews and stringent requirements for competitive pricing, workflow details, references and work samples. Three firms were selected from the 16 that submitted proposals.
Though International Contact has provided translation services for the VTA since 1989 and has been selected numerous times among competitive bidders, the new contract is a testament to the quality of service for which the company is well-known in the translation industry.
"Being an incumbent vendor was helpful because we understand VTA's needs and had a proven track record with them," says Carla Itzkowich, president of International Contact, Inc. "We still needed to go through the formal process of fulfilling the proposal requirements to demonstrate that we are also competitive. We understand the need for businesses to be good financial stewards, and work diligently to provide a cost-effective service. It was well worth participating in the competitive process to be awarded this contract and continue a successful relationship with VTA."
International Contact serves multiple government agencies in the Greater Bay Area and maintains a database of shared language that allows them to be competitive while providing top quality service. In addition, in their 27 years in business, translation providers have tripled, keeping competitive pressures high and prices low.
Few translation providers have the range of International Contact; they have the capacity to produce translations in all media – from bus schedules to corporate image video to website adaptation – managing all elements of the translation process. Services include foreign language talent, testing employees for bilingual pay and providing the fonts for desktop publishing of Asian and African languages.
