April 6, 2009 - PRLog -- Milwaukee, WI – The Milwaukee Chamber Orchestra (MCO) concludes its current season the weekend of May 16-17, 2009 with “Carnival in May,” a riotous musical free-for-all, in which a jolly piece for La Jolla, California; a neo-classic dance inspired by Picasso and Nijinsky; an oh-so romantic rococo cello; and a postcard-perfect visit to the sun-drenched Tuscan countryside vie for your attention!

Two intimate venues will host “Carnival in May.” It will be performed on Saturday, May 16 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Francis Borgia - South Church, N44 W6055 Hamilton Rd., Cedarburg, and on Sunday, May 17 at 7:30 p.m. at Calvary Presbyterian Church, 935 W. Wisconsin Ave., Milwaukee. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased online at http://www.theMCO.org, by calling 414-881-9900, or at the door.

“These are exciting new musical adventures you’ll love taking with us,” said Richard Hynson, MCO music director, who programmed and will conduct Bohuslav Martinu’s Sinfonietta La Jolla, commissioned in 1950 by the La Jolla Musical Arts Society; Igor Stravinsky’s Pulcinella: Suite, whose first performance featured costumes and sets designed by Picasso; Tchaikovsky’s Variations on a Rococo Theme, Opus 33, featuring Scott Tisdel, MCO principal cellist; and Felix Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 4, "The Italian," reflecting scenes of an 1830 European trip by the composer.

The Milwaukee Chamber Orchestra, the only professional chamber orchestra in the greater Milwaukee area, has been performing the highest quality chamber music for more than 30 years. The MCO provides a unique experience for audience members as well as important performance opportunities to professional musicians in the area, many of whom play with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and are in demand around the world.
