Melanie Bourne, Portrait Artist to the stars of Almeria, stage, screen, politics, the media and the corrida, has launched a new website, IndaloArt, to offer lucky charm Indalos for sale online. After being inspired by painting a 'portrait' of Indalo Man at Hotel Valle del Este Golf Resort in Spain, she has now produced a range of 'good luck' products which can be purchased over the internet via her new website.
Indalo Man is a lucky symbol used as a good luck charm or talisman (particularly in Spain). It originates from paintings that were found on the walls of ancient neolithic caves in Almeria in the middle of the last Century and which date back over 4,500 years. It is the figure of a man holding a rainbow in outstretched arms - not dissimilar to other such paintings found around the world, and sometimes referred to as the Rainbow Warrior (especially in North American Indian folklore). Although the origin of the word Indalo is thought to be San Indalecio - a 1st Century AD saint who was sent by Rome to evangalise the Iberian Peninsular and is now the patron saint of the region, archaeologists and anthropologists believe the symbol represents the search by primitive man for wisdom and truth in the universe. The little lucky charm is considered a guardian angel and many believe it represents a messenger from God.
Melanie's website contains many examples of the Indalo symbol and offers Lucky Indalo charmstones and other such products for sale online.
