Follow on Google News | Force of the Street comes to LondonA once in a lifetime international collaboration is coming to London’s top photographic printing venue, theprintspace, based in the heart of London.
By: theprintspace Jimena and Jimmy Page (from Led Zeppelin) founded The ABC Trust in 1998, which supports initiatives like AA Criança. It aims to inspire the 12,000 homeless children in the Sé region of downtown Sao Paolo to improve their situation through aid, drop-in day centres, human rights workshops and educating through art and culture projects. For this project only, artists including Calma, Speto and Titi Freak from Sao Paolo, and D*Face, Inkie, and Remi/Rough from London are collaborating to raise money and awareness for Brazil’s most vulnerable children. The artists are painting 12 iconic Gibson guitars, which will be auctioned off on the 29th of April at The Cuckoo Club. Londoners will get a chance to see these stunning guitars before they are auctioned off, alongside a host of limited edition prints via Exhibit X and specially commissioned work from an extended selection of international artists at theprintspace gallery. There will also be two exclusive British/Brazilian collaboration prints and screenings of the A Força da Rua documentary, shot by renowned director Lorna Lavelle. A Força da Rua also ran a design competition that was inspired by the project. Entrants could submit their own guitar artwork until April 3rd, and entries will be judged by an impressive panel including the Tate Modern’s Cedar Lewishohn, author Tristan Manco, Dazed visual arts editor Fran Gavin, director Lorna Lavelle, and UK street artist Inkie. The winner will receive a Gibson Les Paul Melody Maker as well as being featured in the exhibition at theprintspace gallery. Opening night of A Força da Rua at theprintspace gallery is Wednesday April 22nd, which is set to include an impressive guest list from within London’s creative community. The exhibition is open to the public from April 23rd until Monday May 12th.
