Ecocab, LLC and the 23rd Annual bike MS Round-Up Ride
More than 800 cyclists rode for MS March 28-29, 2009
On March 28th, 2009 Ecocab, LLC participated in the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Arizona Chapter’s 23rd Annual Bike MS Round Up Ride Presented By Discount Tire Company in the historic Town of Florence, AZ. Ecocab donated time and equipment to a unique Team cycling to create a world FREE of MS and made a direct donation to the Bike MS Round Up Ride. Ecocab was contacted 2 days prior to the event by participant Justin Horwitz who wanted to lease 2 pedal cabs to use in the event. His team of four friends wanted to haul each other for the duration of the El Paso Natural Gas forty mile route using these Ecocabs. Most cyclists rode traditional bicycles in this event.
Ecocab donated 80 % of the rental fee back to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Arizona Chapter. “Our company profits from providing an eco-friendly service to the community and lease income from our team of green collar operators. This was a perfect opportunity for our company to give back to the community and demonstrate social responsibility;
Team Awesome who rode in the Bike MS Round-Up Ride consisted of Justin Horwitz and Andy Peloquin on one cab, with Pete Metzger and Chris Peloquin on the other. Each of the team members pulled over 350 pounds for 20 miles not including their own body weight. Even for a seasoned pedal cab operator, pulling weight for that length of time and distance would not have been an easy task. “This was quite an accomplishment for the inexperienced pedal cab operator; it took strength of spirit and heart for these guys to complete the El Paso Natural Gas 40 mile route,” said Jason Holt.
The National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Arizona Chapter’s Bike MS taking place in historic Florence, AZ is this Chapter’s 23rd Annual premiere cycling event that raises money to help find a cure for multiple sclerosis and provide programs and services for the over 8,000 Arizonans effected by this disease. This year over 800 cyclists gathered together to ride over 150 miles in hopes to raise over $630,000 for MS.
