The May Show at ALL THINGS ART is seeking participants. The theme is “Kicking Off Our Shoes: A Mixed Media Altered Art Affair.” Folks are encouraged to let their creative juices flow and paint, draw, photograph, alter, build, or create “artwork” based on the subject of footwear. Also included in this show will be some pieces from Rochester’s Memorial Art Gallery’s 1999’s Exhibit of Fabulous Footwear: New Sculpture by Marilyn Gillespie. About 10 pieces of the 65 trompe l'oeil sculptures which survey the history of footwear from 2,500 BCE to the present, from ancient Egypt to Elizabethan England, Imperial China to flapper-era America will be on view. Free entry to show.
This show will close at the end of May with an original dramatic theater ensemble production, the first to be held on our revamped stage, featuring many of the same actors who appear annually in our summer comedy productions. Its title, Walk a Mile in Our Shoes, suggests the portrayal of several personas in monologues and dialogues who will give us a glimpse into their lives based entirely upon the shoes they wear. The show will premiere on Friday, May 29th and close on May 30th with evening performances starting at 7 p.m. Presale tickets are $6 for one/2 for $10 and at the door, $7 for one/$12 for two. Reservations for tables can be made by calling ahead (585) 396-0087. The evening is BYOB and light snacks “Sole Food” will be offered. Currently we are seeking a sponsor for the event.
