FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PR Log (Press Release)Apr 05, 2009 – North Andover, MA - Steve Stanganelli, CRPC®, CFP® , a chartered retirement planning specialist and fee-only board-certified financial planner, has been featured on two segments of the North Andover Community Access Cable TV show "Your Money ABCs" with North Andover estate planning attorney Ramsey Bahrawy.

The long-running program, moderated by Attorney Bahrawy, provides a 30-minute weekly forum for area professionals to discuss relevant financial planning topics covering the areas of personal finance, estate planning, retirement and credit.

In the first of these segments, Stanganelli commented on the basic concepts of estate planning needed throughout life.  "Whether you have something you want to protect or you have someone you care about who you want to protect, you need an estate plan," the five-star-rated board-certified fee-only financial professional answered when asked who needs to consider an estate plan.  Stanganelli added that it is a misconception that it is something "only for the rich."

"You might need estate planning if you own a business, have property in different states, have a spouse who is not a US citizen or have children from multiple marriages or if you have elder parents in need of long term care," Stanganelli explained.

The first segment, recorded on February 18, 2009, covered the concepts of probate and ways to minimize the expense and taxes associated with probate through the use of powerful alternate arrangements including Revocable Living Trusts.

The two estate planning professionals also discussed some of the options available for those interested in planning for long-term care which included a review of the complex rules involved in qualifying for Medicaid assistance.

In the second program recorded on March 18, 2009, the focus was on identity theft which "costs the US economy more than $56 billion in 2005" according to statistics Stanganelli provided from the Federal Trade Commission and the Identity Theft Resource Center.

During this program, Stanganelli, a veteran mortgage banker, reviewed some of the many types of scams and cyber-theft techniques as well as the strategies for combating personal financial information. In addition to high-tech security like computer fire walls and not responding to unsolicited email requesting personal financial information, Stanganelli offered low-tech tips like shredding financial documents and credit card solicitations.  "The key is to simply be aware and not be overly trusting of an authoritative looking email or call," he added.

The programs will air on nearly twenty community access cable TV channels throughout the Merrimack Valley from Andover to Georgetown and Haverhill, Massachusetts.  Check your local cable TV listings for times.
