The reason this website was created is that most of the webs presently on the net are focused on programs and treatment milieu's, the author felt as though the addict, families, and friends were being shortchanged in this continuum therefore he decided to reach out again to these people through the website.
AddictsR came into being during a sermon focused on service to others, reaching out to others has been a mainstay of the authors life for the past 30 years that he has been in recovery. The sermon convinces him to continue to reach out, but this time to a larger audience, that being the www. The name AddictsR was chosen because addicts are people, and as people we make mistakes. To quote the author, "When we screw up what we need is a hand up, not a hand out."
