Senator Wicker to Officially Announce Designation of Mississippi Hills National Heritage Area
Tupelo, Miss. – Senator Roger Wicker (R-MS) will officially announce the federal designation of the Mississippi Hills National Heritage Area at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 14th 2009, at the BancorpSouth Convention Center in Tupelo.
“Gaining national heritage area designation for the Mississippi Hills will boost our state’s economy by increasing tourism opportunities,”
The boundaries of the 30-county Mississippi Hills National Heritage Area are Interstate 55, MS Highway 14, and the TN and AL state lines. The Mississippi Hills Heritage Area Alliance (MHHAA) is the management entity for the heritage area and will be working with communities across the region to develop a management plan and marketing strategy.
