The simplified approach to underwriting within DU Refi PlusTM greatly reduces the required documentation, enabling lenders to generate additional mortgage refinancing. While encouraged to reduce the monthly principal and interest payments for existing homeowners, lenders are also obligated to make an effort to provide a more permanent product for their borrowers, such as replacing an adjustable-rate mortgage (ARM) with a fixed-rate mortgage.
