(Lawrencetown, NS) – Naturally Nova Scotia (NNS), Canada’s leading manufacturer of certified organic supplements is proudly unique amongst natural health product producers. Instead of using synthesized, highly processed vitamins, NNS follows a whole-food philosophy and creates products from nutrient-rich foods such as fruits, vegetables, herbs, and algae as “nature intended”.

Organic, whole food supplements contain all of the inherent constituents of the original botanical, ensuring stability, related bioavailability, and activity of the various nutrients found in the source ingredient. This includes antioxidants, phenols, bioflavonoids, carotenoids, and other natural buffers, which protect the body from overdoses, toxicity, and dangerous interactions.

Synthetic vitamins, on the other hand, are manufactured using highly processed ingredients. Manufacturing facilities transform the original botanical by selecting and isolating one active constituent at the expense of others. The resulting highly concentrated, artificially manipulated extract bears little or no resemblance to the original plant material. As a result, these nutrients are difficult to absorb and utilize as they are lacking the cofactors and buffers that exist naturally within nutrients in foods.

One of NNS’s most popular whole food products is their certified organic Vitamin C. The Vitamin C in this product is entirely from organic Acerola Berries. Other certified organic, whole food products manufactured by NNS include Fruit Antioxidant, Vitamin D3, Green and Non-Green Superfoods, and a line of organic herbal tinctures and capsules. Additionally, the company is currently formulating whole food multivitamins and calcium supplements, certified organic mouth wash and numerous other unique products.

NNS was founded in 1994 by entrepreneur Nancy Smithers. The company has since grown to include a 30,000 square foot manufacturing facility on a 250 acre organic farm. Quality is a top priority at NNS which has been certified organic for both farming and manufacturing since its inception. NNS controls its entire product manufacturing and packaging process, with on-site freeze-drying, tablet pressing, encapsulating, blending, bottling, and sachet and blister packaging. The facilities are site licensed by the Natural Health Products Directorate (NHPD) in Canada and are GMP (Good Manufacturing Processes) compliant.
