MercedesTrophy 2009
Kuala Lumpur, 19 March 2009: The MercedesTrophy, with a renowned international golf tournament reputation, returns with greater swings at its annual competition this year for the Malaysian Section on 30 April 2009 at the Nexus Golf Resort Karambunai, Sabah.
The-international series is played worldwide in a three stage system - Malaysian Final, the Asian Final and the World Final. The series starts with invitation tournaments at a local level where Mercedes-Benz owners can qualify for the national final of the country in question or subsequently the regional final. The climax of the series is then the world final, which for years has been held traditionally in and around the birthplace of the motorcar, where both the?Stuttgart, Germany best individual players and the best team are decided during a three-day tournament. The World Golf Tournament Final itself is not only a sports highlight but it also captivates people with its unique atmosphere.
As per previous years, players who qualify for the world final are those who have won the golf tournaments in their national or regional finals. The international character of the MercedesTrophy can be seen in its wide range of participants as every year finalists from 30 different nations travel to Stuttgart for the World Final.

The MercedesTrophy 2009 Malaysian Selection will be held in two stages with 6 qualifying rounds at various golf courses beginning at the lush greens of:
Nexus Golf Resort Karambunai, Sabah - 30 April 2009
Bukit Jambul Country Club, Penang - 21 may 2009
Horizon Hills Golf & Country Club, Johor - 28 May 2009
Saujana Golf & Country Club, Selangor - 2 – 4 June 2009
The top three winners from each category of each qualifying round will compete in the Malaysian Final on 18 June 2009. the Saujana Golf & Country Club in Selangor
The four categories of competitors are,
Men:
Category A - Handicap 0 - 12
Category B - Handicap 13 - 20
Category C - Handicap 21 - 24
Women :
Category D - Handicap 0 - 36
The top two winners in each handicap categories for Men’s Categories and the winner of the Women’s Category at the Malaysian Selection will qualify for the Asian Final, with an all expenses paid trip to Sanctuary Cove, Australia from 19 to 21 August 2009. The winner of each handicap category at the Asian Final will qualify for the World Final in Stuttgart, Germany from 24 to 29 September 2009.
Once again this year, players who succeed to enter a Hole-In-One for 2 Par 3 holes will stand a chance to win a Mercedes-Benz E200K worth RM353,888.00. There are also many other attractive prizes to be won from the event’s lifestyle partners such as Taylormade, Adidas Personal Care, Evian, Heineken, Crest Link, Golf Digest, TAG Heuer, Pharmaton and MAS.
To enter the competition, Mercedes-Benz owners will have to submit a Mercedes Trophy 2009 registry form and pay an entrance fee of RM350 per person to Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. before 24 April 2009.
