Tremendous Success for the Talend Roadshow, Over 1,000 Users Trained, More Locations Planned

April 2, 2009 - PRLog -- LOS ALTOS, Calif. - March 31, 2009 - Talend, the recognized market leader in open source data integration software, announces record attendance at the Talend Roadshow.

The Talend Roadshow is a series of free technical workshops which take place in a number of cities in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States. In the course of three hours, students receive free training on Talend Open Studio, and leave with a USB key containing the data integration jobs they developed during the workshop.

Presented in convenient locations, Talend workshops provide configured laptops, training materials and technical product documentation. These sessions are led by Talend professional experts and provide a hands-on, practical discovery of Talend Open Studio.

“The key to Talend's success is to foster a broad adoption by the community,” said Yves de Montcheuil, Talend's vice president of marketing. “Through the Talend Roadshow, we are proud to give our community the ability to jump-start their use of Talend Open Studio and get the most out of the product.”

Since their launch in 2008, these hands-on sessions have introduced more than 1,000 IT professionals to Talend's flagship product. Comments from attendees have been overwhelmingly positive.

“I had already downloaded Talend Open Studio, but I was so busy that I never had the time to try it out. However, the three-hour hands-on session at the Roadshow really jump-started using the software in my real work environment. I'm now standardizing our data integration tasks with the open source version,” said Daniel Lee, database/web applications lead with Northwestern University, who attended a workshop in Chicago, Illinois.

“The Talend Roadshow convinced me. It provides a competent overview of Talend Open Studio's theory and practice with a minimal expenditure of time (3 hours). It's learning by doing—no advertisements, just facts,” said Christian Pohlmann, Business Intelligence Manager, Xing AG, who attended a workshop in Hamburg, Germany.

“The training session was an excellent introduction to using Talend for ETL. It went through the basics and then explained a few more advanced concepts that you don't often see in tutorials. The hands-on training was great and the team was eager to help with specific user issues. I look forward to using Talend in future projects,” said Barak Merimovich, director of special projects, OpenTV, who attended a workshop in London, UK.

“We were looking for a data integration solution that could not only connect production applications to our distributed ERP, but also remotely deploy and manage these information exchange flows from our central site. Thanks to this workshop, we now understand how to easily develop data integration processes and how to quickly model a business process. After the workshop we presented Talend Open Studio and Talend Integration Suite to the different internal IT teams and we have developed a prototype whose validation is pending.
