Daniel “The Haitian Sensation” Edouard (21-2-2 with 12 KOs ranked WBA #9, WBC #15) is set to provide a late but timely April fool’s gift to the people of Panama as he defends his WBA Fedelatin Middleweight boxing title in Colon City, Panama, Saturday, April 18 at the illustrious Hotel Melia Panama Canal.
Edouard recently won the WBA Fedelatin title in Panama and is excited about returning to the country he speaks of affectionately. “I received a passionate reception in Panama and really couldn’t wait to return. The fans are knowledgeable and appreciative of the sport. It made for an electric atmosphere and an amazing night of fights!” Always thinking charitably Edouard continues, “I was really busy during my last visit to Panama. I hope that I am able to visit a few children’s organizations while there. I am taking a few surprises with me that I think they will really enjoy.” Though not fully determined, several credible opponents are being.
“The same blood that fueled Mr. Roberto Duran flows through Panama so it is vital that I present myself well. I will be exceptional come fight night!” Edouard also expresses enthusiasm about future performances on the world stage. “Several opportunities have come my way lately but there is one fight that looks particularly appetizing to me, a possible matchup with WBA Champ Felix Sturm (31-2-1 with 13KOs) by the end of 2009 would be amazing.” Edouard is promoted by Square Ring, Inc. and recently struck a non-boxing promotional agreement with VMG Worldwide, Inc.
The Panama fight card is promoted by Premium Boxing Promotions (Villarreal & Partners). Also featured on the night is Nicholas Walters of Jamaica (10-0-0 with 8 KOs) and Haitian fighter Evans Pierre (8-0-0 with 7 KOs) who has close ties to Edouard who also sits as the Vice President of the Haitian Boxing Federation.
