New TRAUMA and RELATIONSHIP counselling website launched in White Rock and South Surrey, BC, Canada

April 1, 2009 - PRLog -- White Rock, BC – Sean Latimer has now launched his new website which profiles his primary areas of clinical practice: Fast Relief from Trauma; and Healthy Connected Relationships.  These areas would appeal to people looking for fast relief from trauma because they are imprisoned by traumatic and anxiety-filled events; and to couples whose relationships are fraught with difficulty and wish to experience a quality relationship.

Fast Relief from Trauma

Traumatic events can shake a person’s existence, shattering their assumptions and dramatically influencing the quality of their life by causing enormous suffering and severely hindering their ability to feel fulfilled and happy. Nevertheless, while coping with traumatic events, some people discover their ability to grow in ways they hadn't conceived of before. The right kind of trauma therapy can significantly promote this growth.

Sean enjoys working with clients who have been struggling with intense symptoms over a variety of periods, from a lifetime to a few weeks. They are amazed at how quickly the intensity of traumatic memories and anxiety-filled thoughts can be transformed through working with him.

Sean has advanced specialized training and experience in using modern non-talking power therapies - EMDR and One Eye Integration (OEI). Sean uses these therapies to bring people fast relief and to lower the intensity of their upsetting memories, without them needing to forget the events.

Healthy Connected Relationships

Often people enter a relationship believing that romance is equated to perfect peace, and that a healthy connected relationship is one without conflict. However, conflict is normal in a healthy connected relationship and can provide vital information on how to grow as an individual and a couple.

A romantic partner can be “the mirror through which one safely sees oneself in the world”. People who reflect back on how they appear to others; grow from this insight. Couples may be in a power struggle in their relationship where they are battling head-to-head on strategies, or they may be at a loss on how to proceed with the relationship!

Despite the conflict, couples do develop essential relationship qualities, but this takes some skill and determination from both partners in the relationship. These qualities are based in common needs and yearnings all people have for a romantic relationship, yet it takes a healthy connected relationship to achieve them.

Sean enjoys working with couples who clearly care about each other and their relationship, yet are less skilled in attending to these challenges.

Sean has specialized training and experience in Gottman Marital Therapy and Compassionate Communication. People work with him together to help themselves to communicate more effectively and to create a quality connection.
