Fox Chicago News reports that 16 percent of drivers might be driving without insurance by 2010. Currently, 1.3 million motorists are uninsured in Illinois. Considering these numbers and amidst increasing car insurance premiums, InsuranceAgents.com CEO Seth Kravitz offered tips to the Fox News team in order to help economically strapped drivers maintain insurance coverage.
People can also expect more reports of accidents involving uninsured drivers. As Michael Maher, an Allstate Insurance Agent reports, auto insurance is usually the first to go in deciding what people can do without in tough times. “In these times…I’ve probably seen more cancellations, terminations because of people losing their job, losing their income,” Maher said.
Kravitz emphasizes that cancelling auto insurance is not the best option and recommends looking at other insurance companies for better prices. “People are definitely trying to save money. One of the easiest ways to is to compare policies. Find a lower rate,” Kravitz said.
Currently, 1 out of every 10 drivers is uninsured in America. By 2010, 1 out of every 6 drivers will be uninsured. As the economy continues to stagger, the numeral figures are expected to rise in time, and the media will continue to monitor the situation.
