“This is a customer driven product,” states Chris McCartin, Leda’s Victorian Manager. Most car parks will stick with standard boom gates but increasingly in Australia, a higher level of security is being requested. “Visually, the blocker or Bifold gates are a much greater deterrent to people doing the wrong thing. If that isn’t enough then we also install impact rated product used for Government locations,” reports Mr McCartin.
Leda’s surface road blocker operates in 3 seconds inline with standard boom gates and is variable in width. The company recommend accompanying boom gates as drivers are used to transiting entry and exits with such equipment. Roadblockers and retractable bollards when lowering can drop below the driver’s vision which on rare occasions could mean a hurrying driver may start off to early and hit the equipment. The boom gate minimises the risk of a collision.
