Capt. Crunk stated from the ASCAP offices in New York City that he "loves freestyle rapping” and that he “loves that people want to hear me rap this way.” Crunk goes on to say that “when extreme things happen in my life, I love making it into a song and the fact that people are entertained by these raps, is incredible for me!"
Capt. Crunk released his debut album, "It’s A Hell Of A Drug," in the summer of 2008, to great acclaim within the hiphop community, the album became well known also for its controversial artwork.
