DailyDiningDeals.org, an Austin, TX based web site, announced today that its site for finding and sharing dining deals at Austin area restaurants is ready for use. The site is free and is provided for the community to help connect restaurants with good deals to the people looking for those deals. The site includes family and kids meal deals as well as 2 for 1 and happy hour food specials.
The site differentiates itself from prior methods of finding dining deals in several ways. First, the site was developed on a blog platform to allow interaction that other sites lack. Second, keeping up to date on the deals posted and shared by other users is easier than on other sites since information is kept on a google calendar that anyone can subscribe. This allows users to access the information in their calendar applications (outlook, ical, etc.) and on their web enabled mobile devices (iphone, blackberry, windows mobile, etc.). Third, the site takes advantage of twitter to help users stay up to date and share new deals they find.
"I created the site because I enjoy dinning out in Austin and appreciate a good deal. With the economy taking the turn it has, I thought local restaurants and their patrons would appreciate a better way to find and share dining deals" says Levi Smith, the site founder. While the site is focused on Austin right now, the vision is for the site to expand by empowering a community of users in other cities to simply maintain a google calendar and twitter address for their city that will be listed on the dailydiningdeals.org site.
"Before creating this site, the methods for finding and sharing dining deals were difficult to find and even harder to navigate and access when you really needed them. By putting the deals a google calendar, it's simple for users to access the information wherever they are and without having to visit the site since users can subscribe to an ical link" explains Levi.
The site concept also takes advantage of twitter. By tweeting or following diningdealsaus, users can stay up to date with new deals or share deals they find. "Ultimately, this site is driven by a community of people who enjoy food and finding good deals. By allowing users to take advantage of twitter, rss feeds, ical links, calendar comments and a blog interface, the community is empowered to make the information useful and relevant" explains Levi.
