The monthly meeting of ABTTA (Association of Bahrain Tours & Travel Agents) was organized yesterday at The Golden Tulip, Diplomatic Area at 7.30pm. The dinner meeting of ABTTA was sponsored by Qatar Airways.
The meeting focussed on the nuances of the new agreement with TAMKEEN (formerly known as Labor fund) to train Bahrainis on Travel & Tourism with the help of Bahrain Training Institute. ABTTA is also keen to help negotiate better rates with the Airlines industry on behalf of travel agents. In this regard, Qatar Airways is taking the first steps to help ABTTA with better promotions for their travel agents.
“At ABTTA, we are committed to working together with global partners to benefit the local Bahraini travel and tourism industry and we are confident of our association with Qatar Airways for good incentives to ABTTA members," said Sofyan Almoayed, Chairman of ABTTA.
ABTTA has already entered into a strategic partnership with Amadeus for a period of three years enabling local travel agencies to remain competitive and offer best-in-class service to business and leisure travelers in Bahrain. As one of the leading global distribution system (GDS) providers and one of the biggest processors of travel bookings worldwide, Amadeus solutions support a broad network of travel providers and users. ABTTA members now have easy access to new travel technologies to streamline business operations, boost productivity and offer customized solutions and services from a single source.
The ABTTA association also plays a key role in training Bahrainis to work in the travel and tourism sector and collaborate with the government and local travel and tourism bodies to further this objective. ABTTA has been in the forefront in the recent times for promoting various incentive programs for the industry. ABTTA has been chaired by Mr. Sofyan Almoayed, the Managing Director of Manama Travels and Manama Travels & Tours (Subsidiaries of Khalid Almoayed & Sons WLL) since September 2008.
