Highlights and Features
With six individual cartridges of Epson's innovative Claria Hi-Definition ink including black, cyan, light cyan, magenta, light magenta, and yellow, the Epson Stylus R280 produces photos that will not smudge, fade, scratch, and that are also resistant to water. And, printed photos will stay looking crisp and colorful for up to an astonishing 200 years when kept in an album.
Along with the printer's newly designed print heads and the hi-definition ink and Epson's DX5 technology that creates lifelike colors, it's possible to produce lab quality photos right from the convenience of home. This particular model also supports an incredible number of paper mediums including CDs and DVDS as well as several sizes of envelopes, and bond, plain, glossy, semi-glossy, or scrapbook paper, just to name a few. (See the complete list under technical details below.)
Perhaps one of the most notable features of the R280 model is its PhotoEnhance feature which utilizes a face recognition technology that can automatically detect faces from the rest of the scenery in the photo and make adjustments accordingly helping to ensure even, natural looking skin tones. But, for this impressive feature to work, both the subject's nose and eyes must be visible in the picture. Also, the printer's built-in automatic photo correction feature detects under or overexposed photos and makes the necessary corrections for you for flawless pictures.
The Epson Stylus R280 requires either Windows Vista, XP Professional, XP, and 2000 or Macintosh X 10.2.8, 10.3.9, 10.4.x or later operating systems.
What's in the Box
With the purchase of the Stylus Photo R280 printer comes one of each of the six ink cartridges from Epson, a power cord, the documentation and instructions for the printer, the CD/DVD tray, and a CD ROM with the drivers and included software. Many users of the printer report that having six separate cartridges makes it much more convenient when it comes time to replace ink, not to mention cost effective as it's only necessary to change the one cartridge that's empty.
