The 2009 Capital Hip Hop Soul Fest Returns for Another Year

PR Log (Press Release) – Mar 30, 2009 – The Capital Hip Hop Soul Fest debuted in the nation's capital in 2008 with a performance roster that included soul songstress Afi Soul, hip-hop all-stars Mello-D & the Rados, swagger king Cool Cee Brown and national recording artist Rogiers. The all-day outdoors music festival had two music stages and a demonstration stage featuring local dance groups, an excerpt of the play "The 70% Club", a poetry event "Flowin by the Riverside" and a fashion show by Travail L'elegant.

Writer Felicia Pride, author of THE MESSAGE: 100 LIFE LESSONS FROM HIP-HOP'S GREATEST SONGS signed copies of her book in the vendor marketplace and local celebrities, including Miss DC Teen and DC council member Yvette Alexander made appearances.

Hoping to rival the large success of the 2008 Capital Hip Hop Soul Fest, organizers for this year's festival are planning an incredible line-up which includes DC's hip hop legend Head-Roc and his band GODISHEUS, international rapper Substantial, and Baltimore's finest, The 5th L. The festival will take place in Washington DC on Saturday, July 25, 2009 in Marvin Gaye Park.

"This year's musical roster is going to be even hotter than before," says festival director, Maceo Thomas.
