SRCC Certification has a number of significant benefits for solar collectors, solar hot water heating systems and customers. The first, and most important, benefit is that customer rest assured that their solar hot water heating system will operate as advertised because the efficiency and heat output of solar collectors has been independently verified.
The second great benefit of SRCC Certification for solar collectors is they all solar hot water heating systems qualify for federal, state and local incentives. These incentives can help pay 50%, or more, of the initial cost of a solar hot water heating system.
Currently, the federal government has a 30% income tax credit for solar hot water heating systems. There is a $2,000 cap on residential solar hot water heating systems, and no cap on commercial systems. State and local incentives vary from place to place, but often include one, or more, of the following; state income tax credits, cash rebates, sales tax exemptions and property tax increase exemptions.
