At a glittering award ceremony held recently at the Guangzhou Baiyun International Convention Centre, which saw China’s hospitality industry’s crème de la crème in attendance. The recently opened Swissôtel Foshan was awarded the Best New Opening Hotel of China, while Swissôtel Foshan`s General Manager, Mr. Torsten Pinter, won the Best General Manager of China`s Hotel Industry award. Mr. Meinhard Huck, President of Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts, was named as one of the Top 10 Annual Most Influential People of China’s Hotel Industry and topping the honours list was Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts’ award, as the Best International Hotel Management Group in China.
The China Hotel Starlight Award, conceived by members of the hospitality and financial investment industry to recognise the achievements of outstanding hotels and hoteliers, is widely considered to be the ‘Oscars’ of China’s hospitality industry. Since its launch four years ago, this annual award has grown to become the most prestigious hospitality award in China. Sponsored by leading media organisations in China, the winners of this award are selected based on readership votes and professional assessment by industry experts.

The 4th China Hotel Starlight Award Ceremony was held in conjunction with the Asia Hotel Forum. The Asia Hotel Forum, held annually in Guangzhou, serves as an international platform for exchange and dialogue between hospitality professionals. About 400 hoteliers, tourism experts, government officials, hotel investment experts and venture capitalists from China as well as other Asian countries participate in the forum which draws over 60 media including CCTV, Phoenix TV, and China Daily.
